       I’m very glad that you ask me to solve the problem. If I were you , I would encourage Mei to take part in the contest first. Then I would ask her to be confident and brave. If she is still shy, you can help her practice giving speech in a public place after school. I think Mei should practice speaking every morning by herself. Before the contest, you can tell some jokes for her or let her listen to music to relax herself. It’s helpful. 
       Mei is very clever, and her English grades are so good. I think she shouldn’t give up this contest. If you help her in these ways, I’m sure that Mei must win the prize!
