祖母的变化(Changes in my grandmother)

  　　Last weekend, I paid a visit to my dear grandmother who lived in the countryside. I was so surprised and glad to find that great changes had taken place in her . What’s more important, it seemed that they were all good changes
  
  　　In my memory, grandmother was a very hardworking woman, the same as other Chinese country women. She worked from dawn till dust, either in the garden or in the fields. Day by day, her figure became more and more bent , which in turn ,lower her height to only 1.4 meters .Grandmother had never spent any time on entertainment. The goal of working hard to support the whole family always filled all of her mind .I used to wonder whether she had ever enjoyed her life because it seemed that she was born to live for her family ,but not her herself. .However, during my visit to her, I found that grandmother had begun a brandnew life, one that just belonged to her and full of excitement. She joined a country club where she could sing Guangdong operas with her friends every night. She even told me secretly that she was the best singer there and hopefully would be elected to go to a competition next month! What a good piece of news! Grandmother also went to the plaza to do Taichi every morning. Though hard times cruelly left her with a distorted body, yet I could see her eyes still shone brightly, for life and for the future.
  
  　　Born in the old Chinese society, grandmother was somewhat conservative. She used to resist new things strongly. I still remembered that once we bought an electric rice cooker in order to make her cook more easily. To our surprise , she just threw an indifferent glimpse to it and scorned: ”I don’t believe this odd guy can cook better rice than me!” thus the poorer cooker was put aside in a silent corner for a long long time, never given a chance to make its due contribution. Unexpectedly, grandmother used it to cook for us this time ! she sang a high praise on it and called it her most competent assistant . I looked around her house :television, tape-recorder ,refrigerator and all kinds of modern facilities had found their place in the house .It seemed that grandmother was much fashionable now.
  
  　　My grandmother is a typical Chinese woman born in the times of old society. From her dramatic changes , I can see that china has developed a great deal.
