      The word "democracy" comes from two Greek words that mean "people" and "rule". Democracy is a kind of government which lets people rule themselves. They rule themselves by choosing their rulers and their lawmakers. Abraham Lincoln told clearly what democracy means in his famous Gettysburg Address.
